US firm Quantum3D was announced as the winning tender in a global search to select a visual technology platform that forms part of the contract to provide TAS with visuals for the first flight simulation device being delivered to Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) in support of its new T-625 helicopter design.
The end product once designed and built will feature Quantum3D’s Independence IDX 8000 Series Image Generator (IG), which is Quantum3D’s IG solution featuring the company’s award winning MANTIS scene generation software working from a Windows PC management platform.

TAI announced the development of the new helicopter in January of 2017, giving the new design the designation of T-625. The ambitious project that has been in the design phase until this year when shell mock ups  of the helicopter started to emerge before the official announcement was made. TAI stated at the time of unveilling that the helicopter would be a twin-engine helicopter able to accommodate up to 12 passengers. The helicopter, slated to enter the five-ton light utility class is being designed primarily in a military capacity, with the design also capable of acting in multi mission deployment for other functions in the civilian market, with long term goals envisaged by TAI of the T-625 competing in the light utility export market once the aircraft is certified.

nitially named “Ozgun”, the TAI commenced  the design phase in 2014 as the need arose to replace the Turkish Armed Forces’ aging fleet of Bell UH-1H Hueys. Not content to just develop a helicopter, TAI has also started to source local supply chain elements that they hope will lead to the company having a majority local supply chain to produce the helicopters in Turkey.
