HPG Press Office released a statement regarding the ongoing clashes and guerrilla actions in the countryside of Hakkari's Çukurca district.

Remarking that the Turkish army operation launched in Ertuş area on August 30 continues, HPG said guerrillas effectively hit the Turkish soldiers that were deployed around Martyr Neval Hill in the morning of September 5. 10 soldiers were killed in this action and their bodies were retrieved from the area with Sikorsky helicopters.

On the other hand, 4 guerrillas fell putting up a brave fight in Ertuş area on September 4.

According to the statement, guerrillas carried out another action which targeted the Çukurca Brigade at between 17:00 – 17:30 on September 5.

5 Sikorsky helicopters in the landing pad were targeted and hit by guerrillas, as a result of which 3 of these were destroyed and 2 others were damaged. Guerrillas also hit the Brigade building with mortars.

While the number of dead and wounded soldiers couldn't be clarified, troops in the Brigade bombarded the surrounding areas in the wake of the action by guerrillas.
